Unique Antique Photo Album
~Hand Painted Leather Cover!~
Music Box |
I have never seen
anything like this before! Absolutely stunning! This Antique Photo
Album cover is of painted Leather. It does have a slight tear and
there is natural crazing but that only adds to the beauty of this
Album. Its does need to be cleaned but I would have that done
professionally. I am not sure of its age but it is old. The music box
mechanism does not work but I spoke to a clock repairman who said most
any that work on clocks would be able to bring it back to life! Wish I
knew what tune it played! The bottom of the Album sits on the wooden
box that holds the music mechanism and it was attached to the bottom
of the Photo Album at one time. The Album measures 9" X 11". There are
many, many photos-too many to show on one page. You are more than
welcome to email me for more photos. Unfortunately, there are no marks
or identifying signatures found in this album.

Antique German Spinning Wheel |
|
I
brought this spinning wheel back with me from Germany. Its unique look
and the original red paint caught my eye immediately! I brought 3
different ones back with me from Europe but this one is, by far, the
most desirable due to the original paint. I am not sure what type of
wood is used but I was told the wood came from the Black Forrest in
Germany. The leather tie that held the spinner in place was so old it
just sort of fell apart and I have replaced it with new leather. I am
in the process of changing the new leather out for older darker
leather that is more in keeping with the original piece. I am not sure
of its age but it is old. Some of the original thread is still
attached to the wheel. This Spinning Wheel measures 2 ft. & 1" high and 30" deep. Enjoy!

12" high and 11" wide at the mouth. they both have a wooden grip that is
completely intact. There are no holes in the bottom so you could actually
use them for more than just display!! Enjoy!

Vintage Food Umbrella |
|
This is the coolest food umbrella/ mesh
covering. The mesh is hard steel wiring and it is trimmed in black
canvas! The canvas is a little tattered at the edge but is not fraying,
no holes and is still very much intact. Besides, that's what adds
character isn't it? The covering has 2 small rings at the outer bottom
part of the cover so you could actually turn it upside down and hang it
to use as a planter. I never did as I used it alot as a food umbrella
when I was catering so I sure hope that's what this is! Always had lots
of "oohs and ahhhs" when I used it. It measures 9&1/2" across at the
bottom (have no idea what the circumference would be. I passed math by
the "skin of my teeth!) Boy, that little saying sure tells my age! There
is a photos of one almost exactly like this one in the current Country
Living magazine!!

Vintage Sewing Basket
I am not sure if this is Bake Lite or
plastic but I tend to lean toward plastic. I have no idea about items
that are not furniture, prim dolls or primitives in general. This basket
was given to me by an older woman who in tu
rn received it from her
mother years ago. It looks to be in the style of the 1930'-1950's. What
I find unusual is the felt backing that is laid into the clear plastic
lid and the flowers in-between. Have you ever seen a lid that has an
angel for a pull? She is porcelain and has not one chip, crack or
missing finger, or toe-even her wings are complete! She has a soft handpainted face and holds a staff in her hand. The inside of the box
contains small sewing scissors with the markings "Wadsworth Germany" and
what I am quite certain is an authentic ivory stick with a carved
elephant on top. I have an old player piano that has ivory keys -the
same feel and look. All the spools are wooden. Embossed at the bottom of
the box is "Thread Master-Kerk Guild, Inc.-New York, NY-Made in USA-Pat.
Pend. I have done alot of research on this company and while they have
many types of sewing boxes I have never seen one like this. I am sure
there are more out there but I haven't come across one in all my 30 yrs.
of antiquing. The box measures 10" long X 7" wide and 5" high (to
include the top of the angels head) You can see in one of the photos
that there are beads placed around the edge of the top. Six of these are
missing but you would hardly notice. A true treasure for those that
collect sewing baskets!

European Table Butler
This is quite unique as
the etching on the pan itself is very different. A star is seen in the
middle. Now I am originally from Texas so you would think I would hang
onto this. Well I have had it displayed for years! I purchased this 8
yrs ago. from a friend of mine who travels abroad in search of rare
finds for her store. She brought this from a trip to France and England
although because of the "star" I am not so sure that is the home of
origin. There are no markings that I can find. The brush for crumbs has
very soft bristles which you can tell are not synthetic. The only thing
that comes to mine is Boars hair. The metal is very light weight almost
like tin. I can't tell if the Ebony handle is wood or plastic. I would
dare say the age would be around the late 1800's or very early 1900's.
It measures 10" long and the brush 11"long. A wonderful conversation piece even if you don't
use it!

This
box is a wonderful storage bin or display item. I brought this back
from England some years ago. Measuring 16" high and 43" in diameter
with a diamond marking on the front, it is solid an sturdy. The
stenciled writing on the bottom reads: Fehr Bros,
NY-1931-Jacksonville-Made in England. To be quite honest I have no
idea what this box was used for. Cheese box maybe? Regardless it fits
into any decor!
