Handmaidens
Here you will find Handmade Primitive Dolls, Primitive Raggedy’s, Primitive Amish inspired Faceless Dolls, and Primitive Seasonal Dolls. All Handmade right here in America, all one of a kind and all hand signed.
Ariel
is heavily tea stained. She is wearing a C.1910 Christening Dress that is
a very, very soft dotted Swiss like cotton
fabric. There were a couple of tiny rips along her sleeve and in back of
her dress that I have sewn and are hardly noticeable. It is very rare to
find gowns of this age without any tears or stains and I will always
describe any flaws as best I can. Having said that, I find that the older,
gently used and even sometimes stained gowns more desirable. It lends to
the authenticity of the complete doll. Ariel's dress measures 39" long.
There is a small stain at the bottom of the dress at the hem with a tiny
tear that is best left alone. Stains of this sort can easily be lifted out
with Orvis, which you can find in the better quilting shops. Quilters
swear by it! Ariel's face is entirely handpainted and her hair is
authentic Montana Rams Wool. Her nose and eyebrows are handstiched using a
crows feet stitch and I have wrapped beautiful silk ribbon edging around
her head. Ariel is holding her crackled
resin bunny that is riding on top of a duck. How cute is that?! It reminds
her of the glories of Spring! Of course, the bunny goes with her wherever
she travels!!
Ariel is OOAK
and handsigned.
Enjoy!

Matha
Washington (she prefers Matha without the "r")-more "friendly soundin'" -
she says. Matha is heavily tea stained and is scented with Sweet Harvest
Farms signature scent! Looking for just the right Patriotic fabric to
clothe her in came as a challenge though, as nothing seemed quite right.
So I decided to paint! You can change anything
with paint! I decided to take some old paint cloth fabric and cut out a
dress and jacket, without a pattern of course, and came up with a design
that I hand-painted in permanent watercolor that suited my fancy! The
handpainted border has the freehand written words of, Freedom, Family,
Friends, Hope, Peace, and Love. Each button within the stars were sewn
on-not glued. Her features are handpainted, nose
pinched, eyebrows crossed with embroidery thread and eyelids were crudely
stitched on to give her the look I wanted. She's been given the expression
of "Here we go again! You know George! Giving speeches, crossing rivers,
photo ops, etc...".
Her hair is authentic RamsWool from Montana and she wears her little cap
to keep her hair from being tousled about in the wind. I gave her a flag
to wave and the words to "America The Beautiful
"written on old brown paper that I singed around the edges with a candle.
She has an Americana pin attached at the top of her jacket and I am sure
she wouldn't mind if you borrowed it now and then!
Matha measures 36" long and is original, one of a kind and hand-signed.
She is now free to "move about the country"!!

Isabelle measures 25" long. She has been heavily tea stained with simple
stitching for her eyes and nose. Isabelle wears a homespun dress of a
checkered pattern (helps hide the stains she gets while making soap!) and a
heart to remind her of all her children!
Red Neck Rhonda
SOLD
has been out in the fields much too long! Her muslin
hat shaded her face but not her neck! Now don't go getting politically
correct on me-I am just as country as the next gal! Just thought the tea/eggwhite
mixture looked cute the way it stained her neck! She measures 30" long and
wears a homespun dress with a muslin apron.

Bessie measures 26" and has simple stitching for her face and nose. A tie is
attached to the back if you wish to hang her for shutter or wall display.
She is dressed in a homespun dressed and heavily tea stained.
Anna Mae measures 27" and

dress and blue checkered apron. Her muslin bonnet is tied loosely around her
head and she is just as cuddly as the rest!

mess with Hilda!
